So throughout my website, we covered a lot of ground pertaining to website design and development. I wanted to go over the bells and whistles, and the “flashy” website that every business owner always wants. I received some recommendations and positive reviews recently, and it made me think about my old days of account management, and dealing with unhappy clients. This hurt me at the time since they put their trust in me as a salesperson! I was embarrassed and disappointed in my team and company. Since, I was the liaison between the website developers and customer, there was always something missed, or not up to the client’s expectation. I want to be clear, that if you tell me that you wish to have a blue website I am going to have you, the client, clarify that color a little more, and I will ask you what shade of blue you are thinking about? I have the ability to scale the blue from light to dark and every shade of blue in between! But, when I was working as the liaison in the corporate world, I would request a shade of blue Per Se, and gosh darn it the designer would make it any other color but blue! I would then get upset with the designer and refer to my dictated notes during previous meetings, etc. Was I the crazy one? Did I forget that request for the client? NO! I didn’t. The reason can be that the company thinks what is best for you and your business! I just don’t follow that logic! It’s YOUR business and branding! If you tell me that you absolutely need the buttons to be blue, I am going to do my best to make them blue for you. As a professional, my job is to steer you, and guide you in the right direction for decision making.
Which brings me to my point aside from blue buttons. Please keep in mind that you are not the one looking at your website everyday. You and I need to make sure that your website is set up for YOUR customers of all ages. So the importance of simplicity is going to be my biggest factor. I want to make sure that people landing on your site will be able to find what they need and quickly! This is called conversion. We only have 8 seconds to convert that visitor into a customer. So I may suggest to you some contrast colors or alternate colors that I can use. If I’m having visibility issues during the design phase with any images and your colors chosen, it is my job to stop and bring that to your attention and have you approve it first. Communication is key in this industry. I want you to be a happy client! Your experience with The Marketing Diva shouldn’t be stressful!
My positive reviews were so refreshing to me and I am so grateful! In the corporate world, sadly I rarely heard how much my clients loved their website no matter how hard I worked. I am still in shock that there was little, to no changes as well. I do care about my accuracy on getting it right the first time around. I will not take offensive if tweaks and adjustments are needed. I want you to feel that it is OK to let me know. Working directly with my clients and listening to what they want, has proven to me that having a middle man is not good for any business. Keep this in mind while working with your customers. No one is going to be as passionate about your business as you, the business owner, will be.
